Karen Walker
Karen Walker is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) and Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS). She is the founder of Caledonia Counselling, a Fernie counselling practice serving individuals, couples, families, and professionals across British Columbia.
As an experienced Fernie counsellor, Karen has been providing counselling services since 2010 in a variety of settings, including schools, non-profit organizations, Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs), and private practice.
Karen brings over 16 years of experience as a school counsellor, along with a deep understanding of the relational and systemic factors that influence mental health and well-being. Her work is grounded in a client-centered, systems-based approach, supporting people to move beyond short-term coping strategies and into meaningful, lasting change.
At her Fernie counselling practice, Karen supports individuals, couples, and families navigating anxiety, depression, anger, relationship challenges, family conflict, and life transitions. She is known for creating a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can explore deeper emotional patterns, process past experiences, and build stronger connections with themselves and others.
Clinical Consultation & Supervision
Karen has a particular focus on clinical supervision in BC, offering consultation and supervision services for emerging counsellors, school counsellors, and helping professionals. Her supervision work is designed to support counsellors in building confidence, strengthening clinical skills, and developing a clear and grounded professional identity.
As an Approved Clinical Supervisor in British Columbia, Karen provides individual consultation/supervision, dyad consultation, and small group consultation, available both in-person in Fernie and online across BC. Her approach is experiential, collaborative, and reflective, helping counsellors deepen their work and navigate complex client dynamics with greater clarity and confidence.
Drawing from evidence-informed approaches such as the Satir Model and Internal Family Systems (IFS), Karen supports both clients and supervisees in moving beyond surface-level interventions toward more intentional, impactful, and transformational work.
